HURRAY! OGBARU DIOCESE IS 10 It was a 3-week long intensive activities of both religious and social events in Ogbaru Diocese from March 1, 2017 until March 19, 2017. It was really an event that drew people from far and wide- the who-is who’s in and around the country. The whole event started with a prayer rally at St. James Church Iyiowa Odekpe down to the Consecration Anniversary Holy Communion Service of the Bishop on Saturday, March 4, 2017. The Diocese has not forgotten in a hurry the internal people that have in one way or the other, at one time or the other assisted her in her works. That she demonstrated in an Award-Giving Service on Sunday, March 5, 2017. The next was Wednesday, March 8, 2017 that witnessed the dedication of The Chapel of Restoration at Metallurgical Training Institute, Owerri Road. It was also pertinent that the nook and crannies of our diocese witness the Anniversary; that was why the Bishop in his dynamism and evangelical mind has chosen March 8 & 9, for Anniversary crusade at Archdeaconry level. This time all the Archdeaconries had to organize the crusade and it recorded huge successes. Amidst the crusade was a punctuation of Dedication for St. Stephen’s Church Atani and Pishon Water Factory (Diocesan owned business outfit) on March 9. St. Barnabas Church Utu Ogbakuba was also on March 10, dedicated. It might interest you to know that on Sunday, March 11, The Primate, Church of Nigeria, His Grace Most Rev. Nicholas D. Okoh, accompanied by The Dean Church of Nigeria, Archbishop Province of the Niger, other Archbishops and Bishops and as well other people of high social status in Nigeria was in Ogbaru on March 11 for the dedication of our two schools (El-Shalom Convent and The King’s Ambassadors’ Seminary), the Women Ministry Ultra-Modern Complex (Emmanuel Castle of Refuge) and the Ultra-Modern Cathedral (Basilica of St James the Great Cathedral). On March 12, there was a carnival tagged “Jesus’ Carnival” which also made a huge impact in the entire event of the Anniversary. At the Carnival the Venerable Prosper Amah preached prophetically while the Archbishop of Kaduna Province, Most Rev. Edmund Akanya through the Power of God rained God’s blessings on God’s people. March 13, 14 and 16 witnessed the Anniversary Thanksgiving Service by various Archdeaconries as appointed by the Bishop. Ogbaru Diocese was inaugurated on March 15, 2007 and that makes March 15 every year a special day since the inception of the Diocese. So, like in every other year, March 15 of 2017 has to be more special because it is the year of our 10th Anniversary. There was therefore on March 15, a Holy Communion Service at the Basilica of St. James the Great Cathedral to mark the Anniversary proper. Also on that same day after the service was a Symposium/Academic Quiz that featured almost all of the Secondary Schools managed by our churches. The dedication of Mt. Zion Church Ochuche was also done on same day. On March 17, St. Faith’s Church Ogbakuba was also dedicated. There was also on the same day Grand Finale of the Young Wives Match Past Competition and Football Match on the side of the men folk. Saturday, March 18, showcased the Anniversary Banquet. Kudos to the organisers of the Banquet especially the chairman, Sir Vin. Dike- they did no mean job. Finally, on Sunday, March 19, it was Anniversary Thanksgiving Service and External Awards.
